Hi ruby
I’m planning to set up a bioactive terrarium for my crested gecko, and I could really use some advice. I’ve done a bit of research, but I want to make sure I get everything right. Here are a few things I’m unsure about:
-
Substrate: I’ve read that a mix of coco fiber, sand, and organic topsoil works well, but I’m wondering if there’s a specific ratio that’s best for humidity control and plant growth?
-
Plants: I’m planning to use live plants to help maintain humidity and create a natural environment. Do you have any recommendations for hardy plants that thrive in a humid, tropical setup and are safe for my gecko?
-
Clean-up Crew: I’m thinking of introducing springtails and isopods to help maintain the ecosystem. Is there anything specific I should consider when introducing these critters into the terrarium?
I want to make sure my gecko has a healthy, enriching environment, so any tips or experiences you can share would be really appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
